What we service

Every Rinnai system.

  • Continuous flow (Infinity)
  • Gas storage
  • Heat pump (Enviroflo)

About the brand

Rinnai has supplied gas appliances in Australia since 1971 and is best known for the Infinity continuous flow range.

Warranty, in plain terms

Infinity heat exchangers commonly carry a longer warranty than the balance of the unit. Annual servicing and licensed installation are usually required for a claim.

Parts we carry

Igniters, flame rods, water valves, filters and error-code diagnostics for Infinity units.

Typical lifespan

A well-installed Rinnai Infinity commonly runs 15–20 years, considerably longer than a storage tank, provided the inlet filter is kept clear and gas supply is correctly sized.

Common Rinnai faults in Darwin homes

Error code 11 — no ignition

Typically a gas supply problem, a dirty igniter or a failed flame rod. On LPG homes out through Humpty Doo and Howard Springs it is often simply an empty or incorrectly changed-over bottle, which is worth ruling out before booking.

Error code 12 — flame failure

The unit lights then drops out. Usually gas pressure, a partially blocked burner, or a flue restriction on a unit fitted in a tight side passage.

Cold water sandwich

Short bursts of cold mid-shower on older Infinity units. Frequently low flow through a clogged inlet filter or a mixer tap not drawing enough water to hold the burner on.

Corrosion and insect ingress

A genuine Darwin issue. Wet-season humidity, salt air and geckos or ants getting into the burner compartment cause more Infinity faults here than anything mechanical. Units on exposed coastal walls benefit from a sheltered position.

When replacing beats repairing

Heat exchanger failure on an out-of-warranty Infinity is the point where replacement usually wins; almost everything else — igniters, valves, sensors, filters — is economically repairable.

Our repair or replace guide sets out the full decision, and the Darwin replacement cost guide explains what changes the price. Symptoms are covered in common hot water problems and the hot water FAQ.
