How long does a hot water replacement take?

A like-for-like storage replacement is usually a few hours. Changing system type — for example electric storage to a heat pump or continuous flow — typically takes half a day to a full day because pipework, electrical or gas work and mounting all change.
Should I replace like-for-like or change system type?

Like-for-like is the simplest and usually the least disruptive option. Changing type can make sense if your household size or usage has changed, if you want lower running costs, or if the existing location no longer suits. We talk through both against your actual situation.

Do I need to be home for the replacement?

What size system should I replace with?

Sizing follows household use, not bedroom count. If you regularly run out with the current tank, going up a size is usually the fix; if the house has fewer people in it than it used to, a smaller tank costs less to run.
What happens to the old system?
